TroCarbon Material Tracking

The system that tracks every material, proves compliance, and calculates carbon — in real time

Every material salvaged from a construction site gets a unique QR code, GPS-verified chain-of-custody, and real-time carbon calculation. From site to verified destination — every step tracked, photographed, and audit-ready.

Built on openness and trust — fully transparent, auditable data you can stand behind.

Why this matters

Without verified tracking, you cannot prove any of these claims.

No verified tracking
No proof materials were diverted from landfill
No GPS evidence
No defence against fly-tipping allegations
No auditable carbon data
No credible ESG reporting
No chain-of-custody
No NRW compliance in an enforcement scenario

TroCymru replaces assumptions with evidence.

Interactive Process

The Material Journey

Follow a material from the moment it is salvaged on site through to verified delivery and NRW-compliant evidence generation.

1

Tag & Weigh

On-Site Capture

Operative selects the scheme type, identifies the material, weighs it, and captures a departure photo. GPS coordinates are recorded automatically.

Select scheme type (Kitchen, Bathroom, WEEE...)
Choose material from filtered catalogue
Enter weight — carbon calculated instantly
Snap departure photo with GPS
2

QR Generated

Unique Asset ID

A unique asset ID (TC-YYYYMMDD-XXXX) and QR code are generated. The material enters the chain-of-custody system with full traceability.

Unique ID: TC-20260406-A1B2

Carbon avoided: calculated in real time

3

Track Journey

Site → Destination

Scan the QR at departure and arrival. Each scan records GPS, timestamp, and a photo — building an unbroken evidence trail from site to reuse hub.

Verify & Report

NRW Evidence Pack

Final verification confirms delivery. A downloadable evidence pack is generated with the full chain-of-custody, carbon data, and NRW waste carrier registration.

NRW-ready

From site to verified outcome — fully tracked

Every material is tracked from site to final destination with GPS-verified coordinates, timestamped photos, and digital chain-of-custody. This creates an unbroken evidence trail that prevents fly-tipping and satisfies NRW audit requirements.

Stage 1

Tagged

Material identified, weighed, and tagged with a unique QR code on site. GPS coordinates and departure photo captured automatically.

Stage 2

In Transit

Material leaves the site. Operative scans QR code to record departure with GPS-verified timestamp and photo of the loaded vehicle.

Stage 3

Delivered

Material arrives at the reuse hub, recycling facility, or recipient. Arrival scan records GPS, timestamp, and condition photo.

This is where compliance is proven — not assumed.
Stage 4

Verified

Final verification confirms the material reached its intended destination. Complete chain-of-custody evidence pack generated for NRW compliance.

Court-Ready Evidence Packs

Each tracked asset generates a downloadable evidence pack containing everything needed for NRW compliance and fly-tipping enforcement proceedings.

Works offline — competitive advantage for rural Wales

Many construction sites in North Wales have limited or no mobile signal. The TroCymru capture form works fully offline — materials, photos, and GPS coordinates are stored locally and sync automatically when connectivity returns.

See It in Action

Watch how an operative captures, tags, and tracks a material from site to verified delivery — all from a mobile browser in under 60 seconds.

Step 1 of 4

Scheme-specific waste streams

Different types of construction work produce different waste. Select a scheme type and the capture form automatically filters to show only relevant materials.

Reduces errors on site — operatives only see materials relevant to their scheme.

Audit-ready carbon calculations (not estimates)

Every material capture instantly calculates the carbon avoided by diverting waste from landfill. Factors are sourced from the WRAP/ICE Database and applied in real time as the operative enters the weight.

This is not offsetting.

TroCymru calculates carbon avoided through material reuse and recycling — the emissions that would have occurred if virgin materials were manufactured instead. This is measured, verifiable avoidance based on actual weights and WRAP/ICE factors, not purchased carbon credits.

Carbon Avoided

Carbon calculations use WRAP/ICE factors with processing factors included for full transparency.

View methodology

Net Avoided Carbon =

Weight (kg) x (Baseline Factor - Processing Factor)

The baseline factor represents the kgCO₂e per kg of virgin material that would be needed if the salvaged material went to landfill. The processing factor accounts for the carbon cost of sorting, cleaning, and preparing the material for reuse or recycling.

Processing factors are included for transparency — most competitors omit them.

Disposal Cost Avoided

Direct savings from landfill diversion at the current UK rate of £130.75 per tonne.

View methodology

Disposal Cost Avoided =

(Weight / 1000) x Landfill Tax per Tonne

The UK landfill tax rate for 2026 is £130.75 per tonne. This represents the direct financial saving from diverting materials from landfill. Actual savings are higher when skip hire, transport, and gate fees are included.

Multiplier effect: Every tonne diverted saves £130.75 in landfill tax plus skip hire costs, transport, and gate fees — typically 2-3x the tax alone.

Example Carbon Calculations

All factors sourced from WRAP / ICE Database. Values shown are kgCO₂e per kg.

Carbon savings from diverted materials also generate social value through local employment with partners including Antur Waunfawr, GISDA, and Tŷ Gwyrddfai — quantifiable under the TOMs (Themes, Outcomes, Measures) framework for Welsh public sector procurement.

Automated Health & Safety Compliance

Certain materials are flagged automatically with on-screen warnings when selected. The system enforces correct handling procedures before the operative can proceed.

Flagged Materials

Fluorescent tubes — Mercury content, store upright in stillage
Old boilers — Gas Safe decommission, F-gas regulations
Paint drums — Multi-site tracking, drums move between locations
Smoke detectors — Some contain radioactive sources (ionisation type)
White goods — Fridges/freezers contain refrigerant, approved WEEE facility only
Pipe lagging — Asbestos check required on older properties

WEEE Compliance

Built for complex, regulated waste streams

  • Automatic warning banners when WEEE materials are selected
  • Material-specific handling notes (mercury, refrigerant, radioactive sources)
  • 7 WEEE sub-categories: tubes, detectors, fittings, lights, boilers, wiring, appliances
  • Approved WEEE facility routing for fridges, freezers, and CFL lamps

Stillage & Storage

  • Storage location field auto-appears for WEEE scheme captures
  • Pre-filled "Stillage" hint for common WEEE storage
  • Flexible free-text for skip references, drum stores, or custom locations
  • Paint drum multi-site tracking — drums that move between locations

Built for the site, built for the boardroom
